Chosen Track

Chosen Music Video Track For my music video, I have chosen to use the song ICU by Phoebe Bridgers . I have chosen this song because it's lyrics are very clearly about love, rather than having any other interpretations. I have also chosen this song because of it's rapid beat during the chorus, which I can utilise in my editing - as well as the fact that this was one of the songs closest to 3 minuets out of the tracks that I considered, and I won't have too much to trim from the song to match the time brief. I like how happy the song feels, which I think will match the inspiration that I am taking from my amateur director. I chose to use Phoebe Bridgers as an artist due to the indie feel of her music, meaning that a lower budget music video wouldn't feel out of place for one of her songs - compared to well known artists, who's videos would have to feel very high quality and polished. I also really like the lyrics of this song, and think that I will be able to interpr...

Analysis of similar videos

1.       Saviour Complex – Phoebe Bridgers This music video is very cinematic. It features many long shots and close ups, and less mid-range shots. The video starts with a close up of the dog in the video, and an establishing shot of the beach location. The music video also features a title card, all before the song begins. The video features fairly rapid editing, which keeps the narrative moving as there isn’t much going on in the video. The narrative follows the journey of a man trying to out run a dog who is following him, and the narrative and performative elements are very balanced, as the narrative requires the performance to work.  The location moves from the beach to a more grassy and hilly location. The video is entirely shot in black and white. The video is entirely narrative focused and doesn’t feature much lip-synching, only a few seconds about 3 mins in, in a shot featuring the artist. The shots generally last about 3 seconds each, with th...

History of Love Songs

History of love songs Love songs have been around forever. Some early love  songs are thought to have originated from as far back  as the 8th century, in ballads performed by Arabic  slaves to their masters. The earliest known songwriter is  thought to be  a high priestess in ancient Mesopotamia  back in 2250 BC named  Enheduanna .  Many early love songs started off as poetry that would  be accompanied by an instrument – for example,  Sappho in ancient Greece performed her poems  accompanied with a cithara- an early guitar   Love songs are global and have been produced all  around the world for centuries – in India, China and the  Middle East to name a few places. However, love  ballads became truly popular in the Medieval and  Renaissance eras. More complicated songs with rounds  or cannons became popular in the Renaissance era,  which are most reminiscent of today's love song...
